Holidays are near! Attend your union meetings!
Aloha members,
Please see below for a message from Business Manager/Financial Secretary Damien Kim, regarding the cancellation of this Saturday’s vaccination clinic in partnership with the Hawaii Building and Construction Trades Council (HBCTC).
“Unfortunately we have to cancel giving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine shots on April 17th, per CDC guidelines. Please contact your local CVS pharmacy, or go to the State of Hawaii COVID-19 website to see more vaccinations sites. You can also visit Kaiser Permanente to make an appointment, and you do not have to be a Kaiser member to receive your vaccine with them. Starting next week, vaccines will be open to everyone over the age of 16,” says Brother Kim.
You can also try your neighborhood Walgreens store for a vaccination appointment, by going in person after mid-day, without an appointment. They have not been giving information on availability over the phone, so keep trying in person if you are unlucky or they are out of stock for the day, or go to a different Walgreens nearby.
For those who are kupuna (older population) or those of you who know of any kupuna still needing to be vaccinated, they can dial 2-1-1 and get assistance in registering for a vaccine and even arrange for transportation to and from your home.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but know that we value your health and well-being over anything. We will let you know if and when we are able to schedule another vaccination pod in coordination with HBCTC using the other two vaccines that do not have the guidance to “pause” as does the Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Stay healthy and be safe.
