Filing for Unemployment – from your DISPATCHER 01 APR 2020

Aloha members,

Many of you are having similar issues when filing for your unemployment claims online.

For questions, please call the following numbers for the appropriate island you are living on.

Oahu: 808-586-8970

Hilo: 808-974-4086

Kona: 808-322-4822

Maui: 808-984-8400

Kauai: 808-274-3043

How much can I qualify for?
Here’s how the state explains the calculation: “Your weekly benefit amount is calculated by dividing the wages in the highest quarter of your base period by 21.”

There is a maximum weekly benefit: $648 a week. The minimum is $5 a week.

Also, here are a few screenshots of what to do for the following blocks of info.

To begin your Unemployment claim (for Hawaii only), click here.

As many of you already know, the Governor waived the usual one-week waiting period. If you are filing as a result of COVID-19, make sure you click the appropriate drop down boxes (see pic below). Click on “Still Employed” for ‘Reason for Separation,’ and “YES” under ‘Is your unemployment a result of COVID-19?’

Some of you are filing incorrectly and need to go back into the system to “reactivate” your claim. To do so, make sure you do the following (see the pic below for an example of your “partial claim”)*:

*Partial claim means that you are still employed/attached to an employer, but not currently working. It is NOT a reduction in the benefit amount.

Reactivate your claim
