Celebrating 85 years! IBEW Local 1186 since 1940

Open between January 14-19, 2026, we encourage all of our members and their families and friends to visit a memorial wall dedicated to all of those who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. “The wall that heals” is at its first stop of its 2026 tour across the United States, and will be at UH West Oahu, on the Great Lawn until Monday. This is its first time on Oahu, although it has been on both the Big Island and Maui. While it is just 75% of the total size of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC, there are shy of 58,000 names on the wall of people who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, including 273 people from Hawaii. You can go to the informational section on the website at to not only search for loved ones, but also see where it will tour next. From Business Manager Damien Kim, “Mahalo to our members who diligently volunteered their time to help get this amazing memorial up and to all of those who sacrificed their lives, you are never forgotten. Please check out the memorial, open 24 hours a day until January 19th.”
