Congrats goes out to IBEW Local Union 1186, for recently being recognized by the Aloha United Way and receiving a “Spirit of Community Award” for its efforts in helping them to raise money for local communities and people in need.

As one of its categories, each year the Spirit of Community Awards recognizes union organizations that have raised a minimum of $10,000 through an Aloha United Way workplace campaign. For the past three years, IBEW Local 1186 has been a recipient of this award. Additionally, in 2014, Business Manager/Financial Secretary Damien Kim was a recipient of the Norman Ahakuelo Labor award, given to a labor employee or union who has volunteered and made a significant contribution to our community.

“Each year, IBEW Local 1186 and its members generously donate to support Aloha United Way and our community. Their contributions help put food on tables, provide services to children with developmental challenges, support workforce development and deliver community programs to seniors, as examples. On behalf of Aloha United Way, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Local 1186 and its members for their continued commitment to making a difference in our community,” said Cindy Adams, Aloha United Way President and CEO.
